When we bought our home in Vineland, New Jersey, I was delighted by everything but the bathrooms.
We were fortunate to find a good sized lot surrounded by a wooded area. Our location is private and peaceful, with very little traffic. The lawn is fenced for safety and provides plenty of space for the kids to place. We have plans to install a pool within the next few years. My husband was happy about the two-car garage, and I was thrilled with the big kitchen and modern appliances. We have big windows, lots of closet space and a basement to use as a playroom. Unfortunately, neither of the bathrooms had been updated since the house was built in the early 70’s. The bathrooms were unattractive with cracked tiles, corroded fixtures and stained sinks, tubs and toilets. There were no hooks to hang a towel and no shelves for shampoo. The windows were single-pane and the frames were rotted and leaked air. There were problems with drainage and water pressure. I called around and got estimates from several professional plumbing contractors in Vineland. We needed to tackle one bathroom at a time so that we would always have a working toilet and shower available. The project to complete both bathrooms was lengthy, messy and expensive. I am very thankful for the helpful recommendations of the plumber we hired. He helped me to pick out everything from light fixtures to vanities and shower heads. He suggested modern conveniences such as touchless faucets, heated toilet seat and a dog washer wand in the showers.
