A customer called to get an estimate on a new heating system upgrade.
I need to get a lot of information from the dispatch officer.
I was in the area finishing up with a routine maintenance appointment on a gas furnace and my boss asked if I could swing by the Ashtabula, Ohio address to give the customer an estimate on a new heating installation. The customer met me at the front door. We walked inside of the house and she showed me where the old furnace was located. The customer had a gas furnace with an AFUE rating of 85%. I knew that we had more energy efficient models. I got out a couple of brochures for equipment that we offer in our store. The customer looked at several different gas furnaces. I gave the customer an estimate for the new heating installation appointment. I included the amount for our labor as well as the equipment. I was hoping that the customer would make a decision while I was there, but she didn’t look like she was ready to schedule the heating installation that day. A couple of days later, the customer finally called to make an appointment for the heating installation in her Ashtabula home. She wanted to get rid of the old model and replace it with an upgraded and energy efficient system that was basically the same make and model. Fortunately, this specific gas furnace had an AFUE rating of 98%. I’m sure the customer will be saving a ton of money on heating when winter rolls around. That is one of the best models we offer.
