I remember when I was 12, a devastating storm hit the neighborhood that I lived in, however the neighborhood took a direct hit plus a lot of people were out of power for a while, and after a startling evening in the dark, wondering how long the storm would last, the sun finally came out plus my pal and I were all shocked at the outcome of the powerful storm.
- This was the middle of the summer time in a southern region, so you can imagine the heat that my pal and I had to endure during this time, then we cooked on the grill plus used water from the pool to flush the toilets.
We were not used to this kind of residing, and most of my friends had power after a few mornings but for some reason, my family’s household did not get power back for 4 weeks. We finally broke down plus had my uncle bring us a generator so that my pal and I could run electrically to a portable air conditioner. My entire family slept in one room for two weeks until the power was back on. I remember going to my friends household plus thinking how my pal and I had taken electricity for granted my whole life! When the power finally came back on, my pal and I were cheerful to learn that the A/C was still working in all of our rooms. A week separate from A/C in the heat can actually build some character, or at least that is what my dad told us. We are forever grateful for the mornings my pal and I get to spend in the A/C during the summer time months.
