My First Job and HVAC Troubles

My First Job and HVAC Troubles

Our supervisor apologized for the trouble we went through and promised it would never happen again

My first job was quite the experience. At the age of sixteen, my parents decided that it was time for me to get a job outside the house in order to prepare me physically and financially for college. I readily agreed since I had been wanting to start working anyways. I applied at many different places, and many of them accepted my applications. I chose to work at a local pizzeria simply because they paid the most. It was really an enjoyable experience. I started working in January, and I didn’t really have any problems or complaints. It wasn’t until June that my co-workers and I noticed a problem with the thermostat. It was June, so the weather was pretty warm, and the kitchen was simply getting too hot. My friend and I both tried to turn down the thermostat, but it did nothing. The temperature remained the same. We asked another co-worker to check it out because we knew he had some experience with HVAC. He couldn’t figure out what was wrong, but he was able to call our supervisor, and she came over to check it out. By the time she got there, it felt like an oven in the kitchen. Our supervisor was appalled by how unbearably hot it was in the kitchen. She had an HVAC technician at the shop within one hour. Thankfully, the HVAC technician was able replace the thermostat and fix the problem. Our supervisor apologized for the trouble we went through and promised it would never happen again. I will never forget that first June at the pizzeria and just how warm it was.
