If you are ever in the situation where you need to hire an HVAC technician to repair your heating and cooling system, make sure that they are good at communication.
That doesn’t really seem as if it would be that important in an HVAC technician, I know.
But the fact of the matter is that if you don’t know what your HVAC technician is working on, what he is fixing, and how much it is going to cost you, you might end up in a bad situation. This is what happened to my sister when they were working on renovating their HVAC system last summer. Their heating and cooling system had been on the blink for quite a while and they finally decided that they were just going to replace the whole thing at once. They decided to go with a newer HVAC business that had recently opened up in their area. It didn’t have very many customer reviews, and they regretted their decision almost immediately. My sister told me that the HVAC technician who came out to their house was almost like a caveman because all he ever did to communicate with them was grunt. She said that the whole time he was doing the new HVAC installation, he barely ever said a word. When she asked him questions, he wouldn’t even answer her. Then, when they were done and the new furnace and A/C system were up and running, they got their bill in the mail. Their bill from the HVAC company was nearly a third higher than they thought it was going to be! When she called to complain, the lady at the office said that the HVAC technician should have explained all of the extra fees.
